Police & Firefighters

Police officers and firefighters are an exemplary group of first responders who have dedicated their lives to protect and serve the public.  Although serving the community has certain rewards, such jobs are not without risk to one’s one physically and psychological health.  Throughout the course of their career, they will have seen and responded to numerous traumatic events where the risk of harm and potential loss of life to themselves and others is high.

Impact

The stressful nature of the job can have a extraordinary impact on their emotional, social and relational functioning. As a result, police and firefighters are at an elevated risk for depression, anxiety, trauma, and alcohol/substance misuse, as well as financial, legal, and marital problems.

The goal of consultation and coaching is to help officers and firefighters effectively develop behavioral habits, psychological mindset, stamina, and coping skills needed to maintain positive emotional, social, and behavioral functioning their personal and professional lives.
